ܡܣܒܪܝܢܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܠܗܘ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܒܪܫܝܬ ܗܘ ܕܫܡܥܢ ܘܚܙܝܢܝܗܝ ܒܥܝܢܝܢ ܚܙܝܢ ܘܓܫܢ ܒܐܝܕܝܢ ܗܘ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܚܝܐ
dkhy' mlth' d'ythwhy hw b'ydyn wgshn khzyn beynyn wkhzynyhy dshmen hw brshyth mn hw' d'ythwhy lhw lkwn msbrynn
That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we saw, and our hands touched, concerning the Word of life

ܘܚܝܐ ܐܬܓܠܝܘ ܘܚܙܝܢ ܘܣܗܕܝܢܢ ܘܡܟܪܙܝܢܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܚܝܐ ܕܠܥܠܡ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܘܬ ܐܒܐ ܘܐܬܓܠܝܘ ܠܢ
ln w'thglyw 'b' lwth hww d'ythyhwn hnwn dlelm khy' lkwn wmkrzynn wshdynn wkhzyn 'thglyw wkhy'
(and the life was revealed, and we have seen, and testify, and declare to you the life, the eternal life, which was with the Father, and was revealed to us);

ܘܡܕܡ ܕܚܙܝܢ ܘܫܡܥܢ ܡܘܕܥܝܢܢ ܐܦ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܬܗܘܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܫܘܬܦܘܬܐ ܥܡܢ ܘܫܘܬܦܘܬܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܝܠܢ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܥܡ ܐܒܐ ܘܥܡ ܒܪܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ
mshykh' yshwe brh wem 'b' em 'ythyh dyln dyn wshwthpwthn emn shwthpwth' lkwn dthhw' lkwn 'p mwdeynn wshmen dkhzyn wmdm
that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ.

ܘܗܠܝܢ ܟܬܒܝܢܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܚܕܘܬܢ ܕܒܟܘܢ ܬܗܘܐ ܡܫܡܠܝܐ
mshmly' thhw' dbkwn dkhdwthn lkwn kthbynn whlyn
And we write these things to you, that our joy may be fulfilled.

ܘܗܕܐ ܗܝ ܣܒܪܬܐ ܕܫܡܥܢ ܡܢܗ ܘܡܣܒܪܝܢܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܢܘܗܪܐ ܗܘ ܘܚܫܘܟܐ ܟܠ ܟܠܗ ܠܝܬ ܒܗ
bh lyth klh kl wkhshwk' hw nwhr' d'lh' lkwn wmsbrynn mnh dshmen sbrth' hy whd'
This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

ܘܐܢ ܐܡܪܝܢܢ ܕܫܘܬܦܘܬܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܢ ܥܡܗ ܘܡܗܠܟܝܢܢ ܒܚܫܘܟܐ ܕܓܠܐ ܚܢܢ ܘܠܘ ܒܫܪܪܐ ܪܕܝܢܢ

If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and don’t tell the truth.

ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܒܢܘܗܪܐ ܡܗܠܟܝܢܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܗܘ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܒܢܘܗܪܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܢ ܫܘܬܦܘܬܐ ܥܡ ܚܕܕܐ ܘܕܡܐ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܒܪܗ ܡܕܟܐ ܠܢ ܡܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܚܛܗܝܢ
khThyn klhwn mn ln mdk' brh dyshwe wdm' khdd' em shwthpwth' ln 'yth bnwhr' 'ythwhy dhw 'yk mhlkynn bnwhr' dyn 'n
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

ܘܐܢ ܢܐܡܪ ܕܠܝܬ ܠܢ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܢܦܫܢ ܡܛܥܝܢܢ ܘܫܪܪܐ ܠܝܬ ܒܢ
bn lyth wshrr' mTeynn npshn khTyth' ln dlyth n'mr w'n
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܘܕܝܢܢ ܒܚܛܗܝܢ ܡܗܝܡܢ ܗܘ ܘܙܕܝܩ ܕܢܫܒܘܩ ܠܢ ܚܛܗܝܢ ܘܢܕܟܝܢ ܡܢ ܟܠܗ ܥܘܠܢ

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
